Program Outline
Pearanui is a holistic and engaging lifestyle program that encourages young people to become the best version of themselves through a variety of activities and social interactions.
We have a solid foundation of whanaungatanga, identity and self-development and encourage rangatahi to build strong relationships with one another, Pearanui staff and the wider community to grow a sense of belonging and realise their place in the world.
We aim to partner with local communities and social services to provide counselling, physical and mental health support, nutritional needs and any other assistance they may require.
Program Format
As an extra-curricular programme, Pearanui consists of rotating foundation skills in a blend of group activities and one-to-one mentoring.
The sessions include activities such as horticulture, art, music, woodwork, design, sports, home economics and financial literacy; helping rangatahi to develop diverse skill sets and better understand themselves, their potential, and their environment.
BELONG | BELIEVE | BEHAVE | BECOME
Woven into each aspect of Pearanui, is the framework of the 4 B’s.
BELONG is the beginning of the process.
When people feel like they belong, they start to BELIEVE that there is a space for them,
where their story is heard and they are seen for who they truly are - unique, valuable, cherished.
So they begin to BEHAVE in a way that aligns with loving and respecting themselves and others.
As a consequence they are empowered to BECOME the best version of themselves, choosing to live with meaning and purpose.
